Questioning Questions And Our Inner Marble.
I’ve been thinking a lot about creativity. I realised that creativity is extremely simple. It’s just about asking questions. It’s like an interview, but I'm the interviewer.
For example, I interview a cup. Through the act of questioning, it begins to reveal itself in new ways. Sometimes it teaches me something about myself; other times, it reveals a deeper insight into life itself. What I once considered mundane has now become a source to new insights.
I began to curate a set of questions for myself just like a tradesman curates their tools. The questions I use are uniquely designed for my purpose. I tend to add to my list when I learn more wisdom that I find useful and get rid of old questions that I don’t need anymore. The right questions are incredibly valuable.
Questions can also help distinguish our ‘character’. I imagine our inner ‘characters’ being like blocks of marble, usually sculpted by the hand of fate. Yet through questioning ourselves we can have a turn with the chisel. Some questions have the power to chisel off huge slabs of marble in one go, whilst other questions gently refine and polish.
I think everyone should take the time to curate their own set of questions. By questioning our questions we have the control to sculpt and refine our own inner marble.
